Set in the heart of Discovery Holiday Parks Pambula Beach location, the $880,000 water park boasts two water slides, five water cannons, a six-metre tall 200 litre tipping bucket, aqua domes and more than 35 interactive play features all in a 250 square metre lagoon.
The public is welcome to dive in to the water park’s official opening next Thursday, December 12 from 3pm to 7.30pm.
The first to try the waters will be the Nippers from Pambula Beach Surf Life Saving Club, who are sponsored by Discovery Holiday Parks.
Pambula Rural Fire Service will use their fire hoses to add their own water fun to the afternoon and there will also be a market, free barbecue by Pambula Rotary, face painting, balloon giveaways, fairy floss as well as the popular park jumping pillow and playground.
Park manager Laurie O’Shea said the investment has been attracting a lot of community attention.
“We’re so excited to celebrate the opening of the Sapphire Soaker after the massive amount of community support we’ve received since we began construction three months ago,” he said.
“I’ve noticed more and more traffic down the entrance road over the last month as people come to have a look at how it is progressing.”
Sapphire Soaker will be open to locals up until Christmas Day, when park staff will be preparing for an influx of 400 check-ins, around 1000 children, on Boxing Day.
Day passes cost $15.
“We have a very close relationship with the local Pambula community, with the company having owned the park for seven years now,” he said. “We are very proud of our partnership with the Pambula Surf Life Saving Club and we are thrilled to offer the little Nippers the experience of being the first to be drenched by the Sapphire Soaker.”
