Major works on the Bega Tathra Road in November will require a two day road closure and the diversion of Tathra bound traffic through Merimbula or Dr George Mountain Road.
The works will commence from Monday, November 4 and continue until Friday, December 6, 2013, with the road closure days being Saturday and Sunday, November 16 and 17.
“These are neccesary for realignment and drainage works that will facilitate improved water runoff following periods of high rainfall,” group manager for infrastructure waste and water, Wayne Sartori said.
“Once complete, we will be looking at fewer road closures on the Tathra Road due to rainfall or flood events.
“Works will take place on the Tathra Road approximately 300 metres east of Russells Creek Bridge and road users can expect minor traffic delays between the hours of 6am and 6pm until the works are complete.
“We will need to close the road in both directions between Russell’s Creek Bridge and Ike Game Road on Saturday and Sunday, November 16 and 17. This closure is unavoidable, and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
“The closure is weather permitting, and it will run from 6am to 6pm on both days, meaning travel on this route during the evenings of November 16 and 17 will be possible.
“Road users are being advised to use alternative routes via Merimbula or Dr George Mountain Road should they wish to access Tathra during the closure period,” Mr Sartori said.
