An elderly man who died after falling from an electric powered scooter on Nethercote Road has been identified as David Lainchbury of the Far North Coast of New South Wales.
Police say Mr Lainchbury, age 74, had been living in a bush humpy at Nethercote and may have been using the scooter to come into town for supplies.
A passing motorist discovered the man in a conscious but non-responsive state at the bottom of a three metre embankment on Sunday, October 6.
“A passing motorist saw what appeared to be someone laying down near the bridge, about five kilometres in from the Princes Highway turn off” Dt Sgt Marks said.
“We believe he had a heart attack on the way to Pambula Hospital and he died a short time later.”
Dt Sgt Marks said Mr Lainchbury’s family had been notified and had made arrangements for his funeral.
“At this stage police are not treating the death as suspicious and we are preparing a report for the coroners.”
