A series of fundraising events and a mega raffle are hoped to raise the remaining $14,000 for a local family in need.
Wyndham resident Colleen Barrett, who has cerebal palsy, has been the focus of a huge effort this year as the community strives to improve her mobility and take the weight off her hard working family.
The goal is to provide the family with a converted diesel vehicle which can accommodate Colleen's wheelchair. Currently, the 20 year old must be lifted in and out of the family car by two people.
Aileen Trezise of the Wyndham Hymn Singers said efforts have raised $56,000 and the Cerebal Palsy Alliance has pledged $5000.
The total of $61,000 is just $14,000 short of the vehicles quoted price of $75,000.
"But conversion quotes increase every two months," Mrs Trezise said.
"As we're getting close to the target we are anxious to finalise before the current conversion quote runs out."
She urged music lovers, curry appreciators and local shoppers to support the events and the mega raffle.
"We have such a wonderfully generous community from the Monaro to the coast and we're overwhelmed and so grateful for such support," she said.
