Police are appealing for public help to try and identify the body of a man spotted floating in the water off Eden by a group of whale watchers.
The group made the discovery on Wednesday afternoon about 1km offshore between Haycock Point and Lennard Island, and contacted emergency services.
The man, described as being Caucasian in appearance and aged in his 50s or 60s, was wearing blue jeans and a belt and work boots, but was carrying no personal items, police say.
Eden Police Sergeant Stephen Judd said the body was found at around 1.15pm Wednesday.
A passing vessel is understood to have made the grisly discovery.
Sergeant Judd said no further details were available.
“We are now making investigations in regard to the body. There is nothing further to report at this stage.”
Police have appealed for public help in trying to identify him.
