There were stronger fields in many of the classes ensuring there was great entertainment at the Sapphire Coast Kart Club July meet recently.
The Tag Restricted Light did not disappoint with great racing. Lance Ogier won first place winner from Daniel Smith who travelled from Wollongong and third place went to P-plater Scott Cooper in his first race.
The Clubman 155kg class was fun to watch with Ian Crawford a consistent first in all four heats and the final. Crawford’s return to the club prompted some very close racing, particularly against Trevor Simpson. Second was Terry McConkey and third place went to Colin Tresize.
The Junior National Heavy class was a great event to watch with the largest field of competitors that saw some great duels and a variety of results in the four heats.
In the final it was Coire Donnelly who took the win from Jack Loftus and Christopher Cooper in third. Donnelly was consistent and skilled in his first visit to the club and gave the local lads a big shake-up.
The Clubman Light class always provides great spectator entertainment and there was very close racing between the first two place getters, Clifton Young and Kelly Simpson. Third place went to Samantha Simpson.
The Junior Performance class proved exciting with skilled driving and consistent close racing in the four heats and the final. The racing was so close with drivers working hard to keep the driving lines on corners, trying not to lose a split second anywhere on the track.
First place win was Jack Loftus with Christopher Cooper second and third place went to James Otton.
The Rookies and Cadets classes saw drivers better their times and keep the same race results in all four heats and the final.
In the Rookies class Robert Schilling took first place while Bailey Cooper was first in the Cadet class with Chelsea Essai in second place.
A special mention to Jay’s Brush Fencing who supplied all trophies for the day’s racing meet. The next meet at the Frogs Hollow track is scheduled for Sunday, August 5. Racing starts at 10am and continues till the early afternoon. At other times there are karts available for hire.
