Rodney Thompson of Great Southern Developments said the development application (DA) has not changed since a heritage listing nomination was put before council on Wednesday, July 24.
The nomination was defeated; however councillors passed a motion to enter negotiations with Mr Thompson to discuss the retention of the 1906 building as per the shire’s heritage advisor’s recommendations.
“We really are in their hands as to how they want to drive it and how it all rolls out, what they need to do and what are they offering,” he said.
The public exhibition period on the development application closed last Wednesday, July 31.
The Magnet is awaiting a response from council as to the number and nature of submissions received.
