Eden hosts huge carnival

One of the biggest swim meets seen at the Eden Olympic pool in recent years was held last Sunday with 101 young competitors and their families attending to compete in a busy day of racing.

Competitors who contested the Eden Swimming Club carnival represented 21 swim clubs from as far afield as Sydney and Canberra were in attendance, with larger contingents from the local area including Narooma, Bega, Pambula and of course our home grown swimming stars in the Eden team.

The Eden team members did their town proud with some great swims and all put in their best efforts.

Eden's standout performances came from Georgia Caldwell and Hayden Skeers, who both won multiple events in their age groups.

Kaitlyn Hoare also shone with third placings in several events and many of our swimmers set personal best times on the day.

The club thanked all of the volunteers who helped make the event a success, the local businesses who donated cash and prizes for the day and club sponsors, the Eden Fishermans Club and Ron Doyle Motors.

The lucky raffle winners were Marie McDonald who won the major prize with Jack Caldwell, while April Patterson and Gavin Ewin scooped up the other prizes. The two 100s club winners were John Pelling and Wendy Waites.

The level of sportsmanship amongst the swimmers and clubs was outstanding making for a memorable day.
