Towamba has a web site

After a month when even God gasped at what we do to each other, the perfect tonic of showers and sunshine turned October to green and blossom bringing with the visual beauty hopes for the spirit.

For all those local history enthusiasts, a new web site, on Towamba River Valley History, is a collection of ‘Magnet’, ‘Pambula Voice’ items concerning settlements along the Towamba River.

Twenty three pages of text and photographs give an overall picture of society, education, fires and the floods experienced in the valley from first settlement to 1935.

The web site address is http://cleryk2550_1.tripod.com.

If this doesn’t bring up the site type ‘/index’, ‘/default’ or ‘/homepage’ after the site address.

If there is anyone who would like to contribute items or photographs of historical interest related to any settlements along the Towamba River, please contact Kate Clery 64967175 or e-mail to: cleryk@telstra.easymail.com.au.

Open garden

Towamba’s open garden day on November 4, promises to be as inspiring as the previous two years.

The restoration of St. Pauls Community Church is complete and the 113 year old wooden church is sporting its new heritage colours.

The church gardens will be opened again this year with new trees and shrubs purchased with money donated from last year’s open garden day.

Three weddings are to be celebrated in the church next year and the beautiful mud brick hall available for hire makes a country wedding a different option.

Farm Forestry Day

A Farm-Forestry Field day and Expo will be held at Parkview Demonstration Tree Farm, Log Farm Road, Towamba on November 17.

The gates open at 8am and the entrance fee is $2.

Those who have travelled a long distance can purchase a sausage sizzle breakfast with tea and coffee to sustain them for the farm walk that commences at 9.30am sharp.

A barbecue lunch will be available and tea and coffee is on all day.

The various displays will feature - NSW State Forests, Landcare, Wood Products and Craft, Farm Tree Nurseries, Wood-chopping, Portable Sawmill, Native Animal Network Assocation, Timber Industries and value adding, and many other attractions.

The day promises to be a good one as it is one of the best spring seasons the valley has experienced.
