Plain clothes policemen patrolling the Moorhead Street area on foot apprehended a young man who was on the run from police on Friday, February 3.

The 18-year-old was trying to evade a long list of offences, including driving an unregistered car while drunk and unlicensed, when he was caught.

Police first detected the man travelling north on Nicholson Street, near Botany Street in a car with no registration plates on Friday night at 11.20pm.

He failed to stop for police and instead tried to speed away, losing control of the car and sliding into a gutter.

The man still tried to evade police and fled the scene on foot, unaware that plain clothes policemen were just around the corner.

An initial breath test proved positive but the man’s refusal to undergo a breath analysis meant another charge was added to the list.

He was charged with driving whilst unlicensed, use of an unregistered motor vehicle, uninsured motor vehicle, driving on the road and not paying tax (a charge for vehicles that have been unregistered for some time), police pursuit, not stop for police, driving dangerously, resisting arrest, intimidating police, driving whilst under influence or drugs and failure to undergo a breath analysis. The man will appear in Eden Local Court.

Another young

drunk driver caught

A young man from Boydtown will face Eden Local Court on drink driving charges after having a minor accident south of Eden on the Towamba Road on Saturday night, March 4.

Police were responding to a shooting at the same party the 19-year-old had been seen at when they noticed his vehicle on Towamba Road, near Nullica. The P-plater, who had reportedly been drinking at a local licenced establishment earlier in the evening, was charged with mid-range PCA and his licence suspended on the spot.
