Lumen Christie Catholic College Class of 2008 formal

20 Nov, 2008 09:35 AM
A grand evening it was to farewell our senior students, the Class of 2008 from Lumen Christi, as they move on to different places to seek out different dreams.

They can feel proud of their contribution to the continuing story of Lumen Christi.

The graduation was a wonderful evening on Friday at the Merimbula Imlay Bowling Club.

Staff at the club were most gracious in their support and service.

There were speeches from students and parents reflecting on their time at Lumen Christi and Year 12 presented Father Mick with a framed print (Mary of the Southern Cross) to hang proudly in St Mary’s Church Bombala as a reminder of their journey with him in all things spiritual.

Congratulations to the students who received awards:

Unique Contribution: Thomas Edwards, Sarah Jenkins, Emma Moulds,

Bernadette O’Brien, Mark Sheppard.

Sport: Bart McPherson

Cultural: Kim Churchill

Caltex All rounder: Ashlea Jensen

Christian leadership: Claire Bell

The graduation cake was officially cut by outgoing Captains Bart and Bernadette and the College Board Chairperson Mr Richard Jarmusz spoke to the guests to wish the students all the best as they prepare for another chapter in their lives.

Thankyou to Justin Maher Smith, Erin Nugent, Jaala Hides, Clark D’Arcy, Nicole Parker and Blake Watkin who were at the entrances proudly to the club and function room to meet the guests.

The present to the College (wooden seat with plaque) will always be a reminder of the Class 2008 who were fine ambassadors for Lumen Christi

- they know that there parents and teachers are proud of their contribution to the Lumen Christi story.

Thankyou to Mr Bergerson who has for this term was Year 12 coordinator while Mr Lipsham is on leave.

Leif was an excellent Master of Ceremonies. The meal was fantastic, the company the same and Graduation Night 2008 was an evening where the past six years made way for a reflection and anticipation for what the future may bring.
