On Tuesday afternoon reports were surfacing of two good samaritans who were the first on the scene of Sunday’s fatal car crash just north of Eden on the Princes Highway.
Eden Fire Brigade captain Zlatco Nemec said that a local couple heard the crash at 3.40am on Sunday morning and were the first to reach the wrecked car.
“They went to see what the situation was and to see how they could help.
“They’re quite upset about what they saw and what they had to do,” Mr Nemec said.
“People need to know that what they did was extremely brave. They assisted two of the passengers from the car. One of the passengers was already out of the car when they arrived.
“They called 000 and the information they passed onto the 000 operator assisted the ambos and fire brigade to act quickly.
“I have to commend those two people for what they did. If they hadn’t done what they did, the outcome could have been worse,” Mr Nemec said.
One of the pair attended the critical incident debrief held by the NSW Fire Brigade on Monday evening in Eden.
“They want to remain anonymous. It’s a very difficult thing for them to deal with,” Mr Nemec said.
