A 39-year-old Eden woman was airlifted to Canberra Hospital last night after colliding with a vehicle in the afternoon while riding her bicycle on Eden’s West Street.
At around 4pm, the woman entered West Street on her bike after riding along the footpath along Logan and West Streets.
She collided with the front passenger-side door of a utility vehicle that was travelling toward the intersection of West Street and the Princes Highway.
The woman was subsequently flung to the ground and suffered injuries to her face, and was conveyed by ambulance to Pambula Hospital, where she was later airlifted in a stable condition to Canberra Hospital suffering facial fractures.
West Street was closed at both ends for a short period yesterday as the Eden ambulance and Merimbula police attended the scene.
It is understood the woman was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the vehicle, a 48-year-old Pambula man, spoke to police at the scene.
At the time of publication police investigations were continuing and the woman was in a stable condition at Canberra Hospital.
